The Story Behind the Name Hattie,
Who is the real Hattie?
Hattie’s Journey was created to share the story of a little girl who was diagnosed with Kidney failure at the age of 12. Hattie experienced changes in her life at a younger age. She went through this journey with the support of family and friends. Dr. Felicia Williams McGowan’s created the character name on her primary supporter in her life which is her mother Hattie Lee Osborn (Armetta) Williams. Hattie gave Dr. Felicia not only her life but a second chance at life after donating one of her kidneys to her daughter over 37 years ago. Ms. Hattie’s strength is impactful. She took care of two children. A son who passed at the age of 12 from Leukemia, and then having a daughter diagnosed with kidney failure at the age of 12. Hattie leaned on her favorite bible verse Philippians 4:13 I Can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. Dr. McGowan will forever be so grateful for the life she has been given, to have a mother that gives so much of herself by praying and being by her daughter’s side during all her endeavors.
